How to block pesky App Store rating requests on iPhone, iPad and Mac

admin July 05, 2021

Sick of seeing App Store rating requests every time you start using a new app? There is a way you can block them completely on iPhone, iPad and Mac so that the pesky popups no longer appear. We’ll show you how.

We’ve all seen App Store rating requests at least once on our Apple devices. They typically appear after you’ve used a new app a few times. They’ll ask you if you’re enjoying the app, and invite you to submit a rating right away.

Some apps may display this popup more than once, and dismissing it over and over again can get pretty tiring. But there is a way to disable these requests on iOS, iPadOS and macOS so that they never appear.

Disable App Store rating requests on iPhone, iPad and Mac

To prevent App Store rating requests from ever appearing, follow these steps on iPhone and iPad:

  1. Open the Settings app.
  2. Tap on App Store.
  3. Tap the toggle alongside In-App Ratings & Reviews to disable it.

Follow these steps on Mac:

  1. Open the App Store.
  2. Click App Store in your Mac’s menu bar, then click Preferences.
  3. Uncheck the box alongside In-App Ratings & Reviews to disable it.

And that’s it — you’ll never see an App Store rating request again.

Rate and review apps that deserve it

Although disabling pesky App Store rating requests might be a good idea, we encourage you to rate and review any apps and games you really love (or hate for good reason).

Positive App Store reviews can make a real difference to iPhone, iPad and Mac developers — especially smaller independent studios — because it shows other customers that their products are worth downloading.

Likewise, negative feedback can help developers identify problems and make improvements. They can also help App Store customers determine which apps they should really avoid.
