Beats’ wireless Studio Buds are still MIA for regular folks to buy. But they’ve shown up in yet another social media post by a celebrity athlete, showing that Apple’s seemingly playing a calculated long game when it comes to ramping up anticipation.

In a new Instagram post, US soccer player Alex Morgan of the National Women’s Soccer League’s Orlando Pride shows herself wearing the earbuds. This follows a recent post by NBA legend LeBron James, who also teased the new wireless earbuds on Insta.

Interestingly, like LeBron, Alex Morgan doesn’t make any mention of the earbuds in the post. Instead, the Instagram post is a fairly innocuous one showing her child with “her first pair of cowgirl boots.”

The earbuds are there only if you spot them. That makes it pretty subtle by product placement standards although, as evidenced here, people are still picking up on the photo.

The as-yet-unannounced Beats Studio earbuds are more like Beats’ version of AirPods than they are an update on any of the company’s previous products like the PowerBeats headphones. They will reportedly feature “Hey Siri” voice assistant activation, automatic pairing with Apple devices, and noise cancellation.

When will Beats Studio Buds debut?

When Apple (which purchased Beats for a massive $3 billion in 2014) will announce the Beats Studio Buds remains to be seen. Proof of the existence of the earbuds was found in the iOS 14.6 beta that Apple seeded to developers in May. The LeBron James tease of them on social media popped up at the end of that month. But there’s been no official announcement regarding them. Even in a week in which the spotlight has been pointed, more than usual, on Apple due to WWDC. Posts like Alex Morgan’s certainly suggest that they’re close, however.

Are you excited about the Beats Studio Buds? Would you choose them over one of Apple’s AirPods products? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
