The top-end 2022 iPhones (iPhone 14 Pro?) is expected to have a body sporting space-age material titanium alloy, giving it impressive toughness without adding a whole lot of extra weight.
Titanium is a space-grade material that’s both lightweight and incredibly durable. It is commonly used in aerospace because of these impressive qualities, which amount to the highest strength-to-density ratio of any known metal.
Apple last year debuted a new titanium version of the Apple Watch. It is also the material Apple makes its physical Apple Cards from.
Not every iPhone will get the titanium treatment though. The report suggests that the standard issue iPhone 14 will use aluminum alloy and stainless steel frames materials. This would be in keeping with Apple’s standard rollout of new materials and high-end features, which typically debut on the high-end models and then, in later years, trickle down to lower-end Apple devices.
Sure enough, the report suggests that the 120Hz refresh rate support set to debut on the iPhone 13 will, next year, be available on all iPhone models.
Finally, it says that Apple will next year ditch the mini iPhone model. Instead, Apple will offer two 6.1-inch and two 6.7-inch iPhone 14 models. These will be available in both regular and Pro variants. You will have to shell out for the latter if you want to get hold of the titanium version.
Would this be a feature you’d want? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
