The second season of See is off to a strong start. The fantasy drama starring Jason Momoa and Dave Bautista recently returned to Apple TV+, and there clearly a lot of anticipation built up. Viewership is reportedly up 30%.
Enough people are tuning in to give See the strongest sophomore season of any drama on Apple’s streaming service.
Reasons for optimism in See season two
Apple doesn’t reveal exact viewership numbers — no streaming service does. But the company leaked some positive news to Deadline. “See […] has become Apple TV+’s most watched returning drama series in the first two weeks after release,” notes the entertainment-business site.
And there’s growing interest. Apple is releasing new episodes on a weekly basis, and “See’s Season 2 audience climbed by double digits from its premiere week to second week worldwide,” according to Deadline.
As noted previously, viewership has increased 30% over when season one first premiered. But this post-apocalyptic drama was one of Apple’s very first shows in 2019, and there just weren’t that many subscribers back then.
Note that Apple’s didn’t compare the popularity of See with shows on Netflix or Amazon Prime. These are larger services with far. more subscribers.
Other leading Apple TV+ shows
The qualification that See is Apple’s most popular returning drama series is important. It’s likely the viewership for the season two premiere of the comedy series Ted Lasso was much higher. But that show is a juggernaut of popularity adored by watchers and critics alike.
Also, The Morning Show returns September 17. This Apple TV+ drama starring Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon could well draw in more viewers than See.
