The collection of sci-fi series available on Apple TV+ is growing again with a series order for Wool. It’s based on a bestselling trilogy of dystopian novels, and will star Rebecca Ferguson.
When available, it’ll join several other sci-fi series on Apple’s streaming video service.
Apple TV+’s Wool is based on the Silo series
Hugh Howey wrote and independently published the Silo series that are being adapted into Wool. The series is set in a ruined and toxic future where a community exists in a giant silo underground. It’s a society full of regulations that people believe are meant to protect them. Ferguson will star as Juliette, who’ll be part of solving the mystery behind the silo.
The Apple TV+ series is being written by Emmy-nominated screenwriter Graham Yost (Band of Brothers, Justified) and directed by Academy Award nominee Morten Tyldum (Defending Jacob, The Imitation Game).
The star, Rebecca Ferguson, was nominated for a Golden Globe for starring in the British television miniseries The White Queen. She was also in two Mission: Impossible films and The Greatest Showman.
The official announcement of the Wool series didn’t say anything about when the series will premiere on Apple’s streaming service.
More Apple TV+ sci-fi
One of the first series of any type on Apple TV+ was a reboot of Steven Spielberg’s anthology sci-fi/fantasy series Amazing Stories. The same goes for See starring Jason Momoa and For All Mankind. Looking ahead, subscribers will get a heart-warming movie staring Tom Hanks as a robot builder in Finch, and the dramedy Hello Tomorrow! starring Billy Crudup. And there are more sci-fi shows in development.
Watching these series, or any of the shows and movies on Apple’s streaming service, costs $4.99 a month. In addition to dramas like Wool, there are comedies, thrillers, crime dramas, children’s shows and documentaries. And more.
