OnePlus is rolling out another Apple-esque product at a lower price point — a new set of Buds Pro that improve on its original Buds with active noise cancellation (ANC) and some upgraded audio features. They look a lot like Airpods Pro, actually, except with silver stems rather than white ones.
When the OnePlus Buds Pro come out on September 1, they’ll cost $149, the company said. Airpods Pro retail for $249, though you can often get them for less. OnePlus is known for competing quite closely with Apple.
OnePlus Buds Pro ANC
OnePlus said each Buds Pro earbud contains three microphones that can filter out up to 40 decibels of noise dynamically, according to the user’s surroundings, rather than by simple settings.
Noise-cancellation-wise, it also helps that the Buds Pro are larger than the older Buds and have silicone eartips.
Calibrated sound and gaming mode
Two 11mm drivers power the earbuds, which incorporate what the company calls “Audio ID,” a system enabling a calibrated sound profile.
The earbuds support Dolby Atmos and use Bluetooth 5.2 for connectivity. OnePlus said the earbuds’ “Pro Gaming” mode will offer gamers latency of 94ms.
Charging options
OnePlus incidated the Buds Pro should run for about five hours on a single charge with ANC turned on and about seven hours with it off.
The included wireless charging case adds roughly 30 hours of extra charge to the earbuds. And OnePlus said the charging case can draw 10 hours of battery power in about 10 minutes when connected to one of the company’s Warp Charge power bricks.
