Mac users just got access to macOS Big Sur 11.5.2 on Wednesday, a small update that includes unknown bug fixes. But these are not security related.
All that’s known about the new version is Apple’s note that, “macOS 11.5.2 includes bug fixes for your Mac.” These must have been fairly significant for there to be an update just to fix them. But at this point no one knows that they are.
The Apple security updates page says only that, “this update has no published CVE entries.” That’s fairly rare; most bug fix updates close at least one security hole.
The new version comes on the heels of macOS Big Sur 11.5.1, which came out in late July to take care of a serious security bug.
How to install macOS Big Sur 11.5.2
To install the latest version of macOS Big Sur via Software Update, go to the Apple menu > System Preferences, then click Software Update. Another option is to install the new version from the App Store.
