Make a web of words with Wurdweb
Wurdweb takes one aspect of crossword puzzling and expands it into a whole game. Rather than clues, it provides players with a list of words. It’s up to players to place these in a grid. There are spots that give more words to play, and the game goes on until a predetermined number of words have been put down.
The words are organized by theme, some of which are… peculiar. And the game never repeats itself because the word lists are generated by an algorithm. Plus there are variations of on the basic version, like a Precise Mode where each puzzle has a single solution.
Also, little characters wander around on the playing board because because game.
Wurdweb is not restricted to English. It can generate puzzles in Spanish, German, Italian, French, Russian, Dutch and more. Not surprising, considering it’s the creation of Aran Koning and Adriaan de Jongh, two game designers and friends from the Netherlands.
