China-based MelGeek has rolled out a Kickstarter campaign for the Mojo68 mechanical keyboard. It’s customizable, programmable and, in an interesting twist, mostly see-through.
MelGeek Mojo68: see-through and customizable
You’re not likely to mistake it for another keyboard. Besides having a transparent frame, the Mojo68 comes in six different styles, with keycaps in three profiles and five types of available switches.
Each version of the keyboard features a gasket mount, infinite RGB backlight, and hot-swappable and programmable keys that you choose when you pledge on Kickstarter.
“It simply shines, thanks to its infinite RGB backlit keyboard that is customizable for any color and rhythm,” MelGeek said in its announcement of the new peripheral.
Hot-swappable keys allow easy swaps, upgrades and mixing of switches without soldering.
You can program the device via MelGeek’s KBTools app. It lets users personalize their keyboard, assigning characteristics to function keys, backlights and shortcut settings, or adding layers for extra functions using up to four FN function keys.
An ‘enhanced typing experience’
But Mojo68 is more than just a cool-looking keyboard. It also packs some features features MelGeek said can help boost productivity and enhance the typing experience.
MelGeek noted that the most important characteristic influencing how a keyboard feels and performs is the device’s internal mounting style. Mojo68 uses an advanced gasket mount. Silicone surrounds the keyboard plate as a shock absorber. Poron, a urethane foam, dampens sound, helps reduce finger strain while typing and creates a comfortable, elastic feel.
Widely compatible
Compatible with Mac, Windows, IOS and Android, the Mojo68 adopts Bluetooth, 2.4G USB Wireless and Type-C wired connectivity. It allows pairing with up to four devices.
The Kickstarter campaign has far exceeded its $50,000 goal but still has 28 days to go. As with most such campaigns, it features special, low pricing for early adopters.
Price: Pledges for individual keyboards are $169 and $199, though you can buy more than one or even all six.
